Adam Driver Confirms He's Moving On From Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Character

News - 31 December 2023

In the years since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hit theaters, many actors from the sequel trilogy have been asked about the possibility of returning to their roles. One such actor is Adam Driver, known for his portrayal of Ben Solo, also known as Kylo Ren. In a recent interview on the Smartless podcast, Driver was clear about his stance on reprising his role in future Star Wars projects.

When asked if he would be making appearances in upcoming Star Wars works, Driver responded, "They make plenty of Star Wars stuff, but not with me. I'm not involved in it anymore."It seems that Driver is officially done with Star Wars, at least for the time being.

While it's possible that there are currently no plans for Kylo Ren's return to the franchise, it's worth noting that fellow sequel trilogy star Daisy Ridley was also not initially keen on revisiting her character, Rey. Despite this, it was recently announced that there would be a new film centered around Rey, suggesting that anything is possible in the Star Wars universe.During his appearance on the podcast, Driver also delved into his experience working on the iconic franchise.

He confessed that he and his father were actually more fans of Star Trek, but he did have some Star Wars toys from a rummage sale and enjoyed the movies. Contemplating his involvement in such a massive franchise, Driver admitted, "I had to think hard about joining the franchise because I didn't want to be bad at it."While Driver may be bidding farewell to his role as Kylo Ren, fans can catch him in his upcoming project, the biopic Ferrari, set to be released on January 25, 2024.

In the film, Driver will portray an entirely different character, showcasing his versatility as an actor beyond the Star Wars universe. As he moves on from his time in the galaxy far, far away, it's clear that Adam Driver's talent and presence on screen will continue to captivate audiences in new and exciting ways.
